No room for mistakes for Flying Eagles

No room for mistakes for Flying Eagles, warns Garba Lawal
According to goal.com Ex-international Garba Lawal says there is no room for mistakes in Nigeria U20’s World Cup second-round tie with Germany.

Wins over Korea DPR and Hungary saw Manu Garba’s team finish in second place of Group E, setting them up for a last-16 meeting with Frank Wormuth’s side, who finished atop their group with nine points.

The former Iraklis player capped 53 times by Nigeria insists the reigning African youth champions cannot afford to make any mistakes when they come up against the Europeans, who he admits are going to be a difficult opponent.

“It’s going to be a very tough game because the Germans are very tough. The Flying Eagles should play to their best because this is a knockout stage and there should be no rooms for mistakes,” Lawal told Goal.

“The defence line should be very careful and must play with caution. Any flop, then they are back home because there is no second chance to correct their lapses.

“The midfielders and strikers always do their best to get the goals and when they do that, the back four should always be ready to prevent the Europeans from scoring.

“By the grace of God we will come out victorious but we have to be very careful because the Germans are very tough,” he concluded.

The game billed for Christchurch Stadium, Christchurch will kick off at 7.30 am on Thursday morning.
